The United States has resumed limited weapons deliveries to Ukraine, including artillery shells and mobile rocket artillery missiles, following a brief suspension that raised concerns over Washington’s military stockpiles. Two U.S. officials confirmed the resumed aid on Wednesday, saying Kyiv had begun receiving 155 mm artillery shells and GMLRS missiles as Russian forces intensify their offensives.

Last week’s pause reportedly involved a significant shipment that included 8,500 artillery shells, 30 Patriot missiles, more than 250 precision GMLRS missiles, and 142 Hellfire missiles. The interruption sparked speculation that the Trump administration feared depleting U.S. reserves.

President Trump later stated he was unaware of who initiated the pause and insisted more weapons would be delivered, emphasizing that the focus would be on defensive systems.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had ordered an expansion of diplomatic efforts with the United States to secure critical air defense deliveries, which remain a top priority as Russia escalates its aerial assaults. In a single overnight attack, Russia reportedly launched a record 728 drones against Ukrainian targets.

Kyiv argues that bolstered air defenses are essential to counter drone and missile strikes that have devastated infrastructure and civilian areas since the war began in 2022.

Despite the resumed shipments, U.S. officials have not confirmed whether deliveries of other previously halted weapons—like Patriot air defense systems or Hellfire missiles—will follow. Trump has said he is considering sending Patriot missiles, but no firm commitment or timeline has been announced.

The uncertainty comes amid broader questions about U.S. defense posture, stockpile management, and the political will to sustain long-term military support for Ukraine.
