UK, Libya Sign Deal To Boost English Teaching Standards
The UK and Libya signed an agreement in Tripoli to enhance the quality of English language teaching in Libyan schools and universities.

The deal was formalized on 14 July under the supervision of Libya’s Tripoli-based Prime Minister Abd Alhamid Aldabaiba. The agreement was signed between Libya’s Acting Minister of Education and the British Council, with British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Hamish Faulkner in attendance.
The initiative focuses on reviewing and updating English curricula for primary, secondary, and university levels. It also targets the development of academic programs within English language faculties at Libyan universities to better match student needs and labor market requirements.
Teacher Qualification And Monitoring Plans
A central component of the agreement is improving teacher capabilities. Libya plans to implement specialized training programs for English instructors, drawing on modern pedagogical methods and supervised by certified international experts.
The implementation plan includes comprehensive assessments of institutional needs, design of updated training modules, and continuous evaluation processes. The overarching goal is to foster an education environment that boosts student performance and integrates Libya into global academic standards.
