In a series of social media posts, Trump denied the existence of the alleged letter and accused the Journal of running a “malicious and defamatory” story. He said he had warned both Rupert Murdoch and editor-in-chief Emma Tucker in advance, branding the publication “a fake Wall Street Journal story.” Vice President JD Vance called the article “complete and utter bullshit,” and Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed the outlet could not produce the letter when asked.

The report has triggered a flurry of legal threats. Trump vowed to hold the Journal accountable, citing previous settlements with major outlets like ABC News and CBS. He added, “I’m gonna sue The Wall Street Journal just like I sued everyone else.”

Bondi Set To Seek Grand Jury Disclosure Despite Legal Hurdles

Following Trump’s directive, Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed her office would move the court to unseal grand jury transcripts, despite legal constraints. Under U.S. law, grand jury proceedings are typically sealed, particularly when victims and witnesses are still alive. Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell is currently appealing her conviction, adding to the sensitivity of the case.

Critics, including Rep. Dan Goldman, noted that even if the court allowed the release, the transcripts would not include the full scope of evidence—excluding materials such as videos and FBI interviews. The Department of Justice had previously concluded in a memo that there was no evidence Epstein was murdered and that no “client list” exists, undermining long-standing conspiracies.

The legal and media storm marks a fresh chapter in the political fallout from the Epstein case, with Trump using both litigation and public messaging to control the narrative as 2026 campaigning intensifies.
