U.S. President Donald Trump said he envisions a nuclear deal with Iran that would grant Washington the power to inspect and destroy any nuclear-related infrastructure, highlighting a bold and controversial new condition likely to face stiff resistance from Tehran.
Speaking at the White House, President Trump outlined an unprecedented version of a nuclear deal with Iran that would permit the U.S. to “blow up whatever we want” — from labs to other sensitive sites — as long as no lives are lost. “We can take whatever we want. We can blow up whatever we want. But nobody getting killed,” he stated.
Trump insisted that negotiations are progressing and expressed confidence that a deal could be finalized “within the next couple of weeks.”
Netanyahu Warned Off Strike Plans
The president’s remarks came as reports surfaced that Israel may be reviving plans to strike Iranian nuclear targets. Trump revealed that he had personally advised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to proceed, warning such a move could undermine delicate negotiations.
Instead, Trump proposed that any future agreement include a clause permitting the U.S. to take targeted action against nuclear facilities if Iran resumes efforts to weaponize uranium enrichment.
Tehran's Cautious Opening and Red Lines
In a potential olive branch, Iranian officials earlier said they may consider allowing Americans to be part of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspection teams— a reversal from their previous policy. However, Trump’s statements about unilateral destruction authority could imperil that concession.
Iran continues to insist its nuclear program is peaceful and that enriched uranium is necessary for energy production, not weapons development.
