US President Donald Trump canceled the United States’ official participation in the upcoming G20 world leaders’ summit in South Africa, citing serious allegations about the country’s domestic politics and human rights record.
Allegations Of Violence Against Whites
In a statement posted on the Truth Social platform, Trump claimed that violence was being carried out in South Africa against Afrikaners—descendants of Dutch settlers and other Europeans—saying:
“It is a total disgrace that the G20 is being held in South Africa. Afrikaners… are being killed and slaughtered; their land and farms are being illegally confiscated.”
Trump added that as long as these human rights violations continue, no US officials would attend the summit, and that he looked forward to hosting the 2026 G20 in Miami, Florida.
South Africa Rejects The Allegations
The South African Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Trump’s decision, calling it “regrettable,” and repeated its firm rejection of the claims that there is racial persecution against white Afrikaners.
Meanwhile, according to a source familiar with the matter, Vice President JD Vance, who had been expected to attend the summit, will no longer make the trip.
