Tehran Signals Nuclear Concessions If U.S. Lifts Sanctions
Iran is prepared to make fresh concessions on its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief and recognition of its right to enrich uranium, a senior Iranian official said, as Tehran seeks to prevent a potential U.S. military strike amid renewed negotiations.

Iran has indicated it is ready to compromise in ongoing negotiations with the United States, offering what Reuters described as fresh concessions following two inconclusive rounds of talks that left both sides sharply divided.
Fresh Proposals to Break the Deadlock
According to Reuters, a senior Iranian official said Tehran would seriously consider transferring half of its most highly enriched uranium stockpile abroad while diluting the remainder. Iran would also participate in establishing a regional enrichment consortium — an idea periodically raised in previous diplomatic efforts.
In return, Tehran seeks U.S. recognition of its right to “peaceful nuclear enrichment” and the lifting of crippling economic sanctions that have weighed heavily on its economy.
The official stressed that disagreements persist over both the scope and sequencing of sanctions relief, highlighting that negotiations remain fragile despite renewed engagement.
Economic Incentives on the Table
Beyond nuclear concessions, Iran has reportedly offered economic openings to Washington. The senior official told Reuters that U.S. companies could be allowed to participate as contractors in Iran’s vast oil and gas sector as part of a broader economic package.
“Within the economic package under negotiation, the United States has also been offered opportunities for serious investment and tangible economic interests in Iran's oil industry,” the official said.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the proposal.
Military Pressure and Diplomatic Stakes
U.S. President Donald Trump has previously warned that failure to reach a deal could result in serious consequences.
Washington views uranium enrichment on Iranian soil as a potential pathway to nuclear weapons capability. Tehran, however, denies pursuing nuclear arms and insists its programme is for civilian purposes.
Iran has also warned that it would target U.S. bases in the region if attacked, underscoring the high stakes surrounding the talks.
