One of the memoranda focuses on enhancing technological collaboration to improve road safety, with particular emphasis on securing road freight transport. Moroccan Transport Minister Abdessamad Kayouh expressed Morocco’s interest in benefiting from Türkiye’s expertise in this area, noting that this cooperation would lead to greater safety standards for road transport between the two countries.

Expanding Maritime Capabilities

The second MoU is dedicated to boosting Morocco’s maritime capabilities. The agreement supports Morocco’s goal of expanding its national fleet as part of a government-led initiative. Kayouh also praised Türkiye’s expertise in shipbuilding and maritime navigation, highlighting the value Morocco places on expanding its maritime infrastructure.

Broader Goals at the Global Transport Forum

The agreements were signed on the sidelines of the Global Transport Connectivity Forum in Istanbul, an event that brought together ministers, global institutions, and private sector players from over 60 countries. Morocco used this platform to showcase its integrated transport development strategy, which spans air, maritime, rail, and road infrastructure.
