An Israeli court on Sunday approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request to postpone upcoming hearings in his long-running corruption trial, citing “significant changes” and wartime circumstances, as international attention remains focused on ceasefire talks and regional security.

Court Grants Delay After Initial Refusal

The Jerusalem District Court initially rejected Netanyahu’s request on Friday but reversed its position Sunday after receiving new clarifications from his legal team. According to a document published by Netanyahu’s Likud party, the court has canceled the June 30 and July 2 hearings, though no new dates were announced.

Netanyahu Faces Multiple Charges

Netanyahu is on trial in three criminal cases dating back to 2020, involving allegations of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust. The trial has been ongoing for over four years, often paused due to elections, security events, or legal disputes.

Trump Lashes Out at Israeli Prosecutors

Former U.S. President Donald Trump weighed in over the weekend, calling the Israeli legal actions against Netanyahu “madness” and warning that the proceedings could harm ceasefire talks with both Hamas and Iran. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said, “What the prosecutors are doing while Bibi [Netanyahu] is trying to make peace is insanity.”

Netanyahu reposted Trump’s remarks on X, adding, “Thank you President Trump. Together, we’ll make the Middle East great again.”
