Israel’s Danon Says US, Not Israel, Decided to Attack Iran
Israel’s UN Ambassador Danny Danon rejected linking rising oil prices to Israel, saying the decision to attack Iran was made by the United States.

Speaking to i24NEWS, Danon responded to Vice President JD Vance’s post-election remarks. Vance blamed the Iran war for Republican midterm losses and said some voters wanted to change the relationship with Israel.
Danon said it was “unfortunate” that many linked rising prices, mainly oil prices, to “the situation here in Israel.” Oil prices fell sharply on Wednesday after Vance’s post, Axios reported.
“It Wasn’t Our Decision”
“The decision to attack Iran was the decision of the United States,” Danon said. “It wasn’t our decision.”
He added that Israel “supported the U.S. effort” and believes “it was the right decision.” “It’s very easy to always blame Israel for everything, but that is not the case,” he said.
Harder Road in Congress
Danon acknowledged that critical voices are growing in both parties. “So it will be harder for us,” he said, adding that Israel still has friends across the aisle.
On a possible U.S.-Iran deal, he said it was “a decision for the president to make.” He added that Israel “will always do whatever is necessary to protect ourselves.” President Donald Trump has said it is “largely true” that the war cost Republicans.
