The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced that the army continues to pursue "outlawed groups" in the vicinity of Sweida to restore security and stability. The decision came after violent confrontations broke out on Sunday between Druze groups and Bedouin tribes, reportedly over kidnappings and rival territorial claims.

The unrest resulted in nearly 100 fatalities and prompted both the army and security forces to intervene with the goal of separating the warring factions and imposing order.

On Monday morning, the Syrian army reportedly came under attack by armed groups at the outskirts of Sweida, leading to the death of 18 soldiers and the injury of others. Several personnel were captured and taken to an unknown location.

Israel confirmed on Monday that it had destroyed Syrian tanks near Sweida and issued warnings about possible threats to the Druze community. While Israel has not officially commented on the Tuesday airstrikes, its actions are seen as a message of deterrence amid fears of regional destabilization.

The attack reflects heightened sensitivities over the security of the Druze minority and signals Israel’s intent to remain engaged militarily in southern Syria. The region’s strategic location and sectarian dynamics continue to attract external interventions.
