Ireland has announced a £3.45 million aid package aimed at supporting Palestinian children’s access to education. The initiative, unveiled by Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris, includes targeted financial assistance to strengthen educational opportunities amid continued conflict and humanitarian challenges in Palestine.
The total donation consists of £2.59m (€3m) dedicated to educational support, including the training of teachers, provision of essential school supplies, and the rehabilitation of educational infrastructure. An additional £604,000 (€700,000) will be directed to human rights organisations, while £259,000 (€300,000) is earmarked to bolster public services and assist vulnerable families.
The new funding reflects Ireland’s ongoing commitment to Palestinian development and its emphasis on upholding the rights of children in crisis zones. Irish officials have consistently underscored the importance of access to education as a fundamental human right and a stabilising force in conflict-affected regions.
