Iranian Official Threatens Trump With Drone Attack at Mar-a-Lago
Former Iranian advisor Mohammad-Javad Larijani warns Trump could be targeted by drone while sunbathing in Florida.

A senior Iranian official has publicly threatened former U.S. President Donald Trump with a drone strike at his Mar-a-Lago residence, escalating tensions following the U.S.-backed Israeli strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a former top adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, made the chilling remarks during an interview on Iranian state TV, saying: “As he lies there with his stomach to the sun, a small drone might hit him in the navel. It’s very simple.”
The comments have gone viral on social media and mark the most direct public threat against Trump since the assassination of Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in 2020.
Blood Pact Campaign Raises Millions
Larijani’s statement comes amid the rise of an online platform named “Blood Pact,” which claims to have raised over $40 million in a global campaign to avenge perceived threats against Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. The group has vowed to offer a $100 million bounty for anyone who assassinates Trump or Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
While the authenticity of the campaign’s funding remains unverified, Fars News Agency—affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps—has endorsed the initiative, calling for rallies and religious backing both in Iran and abroad. The campaign invokes the Islamic legal concept of moharebeh, or "waging war against God," which carries the death penalty under Iranian law.
Iranian Leadership Split Over Rhetoric
President Masoud Pezeshkian sought to distance his administration from the escalating rhetoric, telling U.S. commentator Tucker Carlson that “the fatwa of warfare has nothing to do with the Iranian government or the Supreme Leader.” But his comments were sharply rebuked by Kayhan, a newspaper closely tied to Khamenei’s office, which framed the threats as a legitimate religious obligation.
“This is not an academic opinion. It is a clear religious ruling,” the editorial read.
Former Iranian lawmaker Gholamali Jafarzadeh Imenabadi criticized the campaign, warning it could bring economic and political consequences for ordinary Iranians. Kayhan responded by stating, “Avenging Trump is nearly a national demand.”
Background: Retaliation for Operation Rising Lion
The threats come days after Operation Rising Lion—a joint U.S.-Israel airstrike campaign—hit multiple Iranian nuclear facilities, including Fordo, Natanz, and Isfahan. U.S. officials confirmed the operation was launched in part after Trump publicly stated that Washington knew the location of Khamenei’s wartime shelter.
While Trump has mocked the drone threat, telling reporters, “I don’t sunbathe,” U.S. law enforcement continues to monitor assassination plots linked to the IRGC. Last year, federal prosecutors accused Iranian operatives of plotting to kill Trump in retaliation for Soleimani’s death.
