A hacker group linked to Iran has claimed responsibility for breaching the email accounts of several close associates of former President Donald Trump, threatening to release around 100 gigabytes of sensitive material.

Among the alleged targets are White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, longtime Trump ally Roger Stone, attorney Lindsey Halligan, and adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The group—using the pseudonym “Robert”—told Reuters it may sell the data, without revealing its contents.

The breach comes just days after Trump announced he was freezing plans to ease sanctions on Iran, following Ayatollah Khamenei’s claims that recent U.S. and Israeli airstrikes caused minimal damage to Iranian nuclear infrastructure.

U.S. Security Agencies Warn of Broader Threat

The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) labeled the hack “a calculated smear campaign,” warning critical infrastructure operators to remain vigilant. CISA, alongside the FBI and NSA, issued a joint advisory noting potential cyber threats from “Iranian Cyber Actors.”

“This so-called cyber ‘attack’ is nothing more than digital propaganda... designed to damage President Trump and discredit honorable public servants,” said CISA spokesperson Marci McCarthy. “These criminals will be found and will be brought to justice.”

IRGC Implicated in Ongoing Campaign

The U.S. Department of Justice previously indicted three Iranians in 2024 for a related cyberattack on Trump’s campaign, stating that Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) oversaw the hacking effort now known to be tied to “Robert.”

Officials are investigating the new claims, which could mark another escalation in Iran’s digital offensive against U.S. political targets.
