U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, during his official visit to Israel, spoke about the ongoing ceasefire in Gaza and plans to deploy an international stabilization force in the enclave. Speaking at a press conference in Kiryat Gat — a city in southern Israel where a joint U.S.–Israeli monitoring center has been established — Rubio described the current ceasefire arrangement as “the best and only workable plan.”

“There is no Plan B. Success is the only acceptable outcome,” Rubio said, stressing that the ceasefire implementation is progressing “day by day.”

“Countries Israel Feels Comfortable With”

Rubio revealed that Washington is coordinating efforts to create a multinational force that could operate under the mandate of the United Nations or another authorized body. “We are establishing an appropriate legal framework,” he explained, adding that the deployed troops should come from “countries Israel feels comfortable with.”

This comment highlights Washington’s intent to ensure Israel’s full confidence in any foreign military presence along the Gaza border.

Ensuring Humanitarian Access and Stability

The U.S. Secretary of State underlined the importance of maintaining the ceasefire, facilitating humanitarian aid into Gaza, and preventing the theft or misuse of relief supplies. “We are working to ensure the safe entry of humanitarian aid, to prevent looting, to return the remains of Israeli hostages, and to guarantee that no new threat emerges from Gaza,” Rubio stated.

He added that there are “many reasons to remain optimistic” about the ceasefire’s future, noting that cooperation between the U.S. and Israel is “producing tangible results.”

Washington’s Expanding Role in Gaza

Rubio’s remarks signal a new phase in Washington’s engagement with Gaza’s post-conflict stabilization efforts. The proposed multinational force aims to secure aid routes, enforce the ceasefire, and prevent renewed hostilities.

By emphasizing that the mission should consist of “countries Israel trusts,” Rubio framed the initiative as both a diplomatic and security measure — one designed to balance regional stability with Israel’s national concerns.
