Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, called Donald Trump a “racist pig” in a BBC interview. He was reacting to Trump’s attacks on Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, HuffPost UK reported.

The interview aired on Newsnight on Monday, Nov. 2, 2026, a day before the US midterm elections. The label is Biden’s opinion. Trump has previously said, “I am the least racist person you have ever met.”

What Hunter Biden Said

Biden told Newsnight that Trump is “a complete and utter racist pig.” He added: “I think that he is an Islamophobe.”

He cited Trump’s metal detector remark as evidence. Biden said: “I mean, because his name is Abdul Mohammed Al-Sayed, he therefore needs to go through a metal detector.” The candidate spells it El-Sayed.

Biden asked what could justify that demand, “other than the fact that he’s Muslim.” He added: “I hope we are done with this BS in American politics.”

He closed with: “Call it whatever it is. He is an Islamophobic racist pig.”

What Trump Said About El-Sayed

Trump first raised the idea at a rally in Port Huron, Michigan, on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026. El-Sayed would “have to go through a metal detector” before entering the Senate, he said, The Hill reported.

At an Iowa rally on Sunday, Nov. 1, Trump said Congress would need a “special metal detector for Abdul.” He also called El-Sayed a “jihadist lunatic,” the Guardian reported.

Trump has also alleged that El-Sayed belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood, the BBC reported. El-Sayed denies any connection and says he would disavow the group.

Reactions and the White House Line

El-Sayed answered Trump at a rally of his own: “I’ll be Senator Mohamed to you, bro.” Senator Bernie Sanders said critics were using Islamophobia “because they have nothing to say about the real issues.”

Bishara Bahbah, founder of Arab Americans for Trump, told the Associated Press the remarks were “crossing a red line.” El-Sayed has also said he would take a metal detector if Trump took a lie detector test, The Hill reported.

Earlier, a White House spokesman, Davis Ingle, was asked about accusations of Islamophobia. He said Trump “will continue to call out complete and total extremists like El-Sayed without apology.” We found no direct White House or Trump reply to Hunter Biden’s remarks.

The Michigan Race and the Midterms

El-Sayed faces Republican Mike Rogers in a tight race for a Michigan seat held by Democrats. Voting is on Tuesday, Nov. 3. If he wins, El-Sayed would be the first Muslim elected to the US Senate.

Money has poured into the fight for Congress. Musk and Trump’s super PAC have put over $770 million into the GOP midterm push. Allies also fear a Republican loss could trigger Trump to cut NATO funding.

Biden also said people should be “very, very, very, very nervous” about Trump’s next move on Iran. He cited talk of a tactical nuclear weapon or a MOAB bomb. We could not confirm any such plan.
