Fadlallah emphasized that Hezbollah’s weapons are not subject to domestic or international negotiation. He argued that the group’s arsenal is tied to Lebanon’s defense against Israeli aggression and insisted that no political authority could override this role. “What you hear in the media is ink on paper. It has no political or legal value,” he said.
The MP also criticized what he called American and Israeli interference in Lebanon’s internal affairs and accused certain Lebanese factions of aligning with foreign agendas. He stressed that Hezbollah would not participate in any discussion over disarmament, warning that such efforts could destabilize the country further.
Fadlallah’s remarks follow nationwide protests by Hezbollah and Amal supporters, who denounced the cabinet’s approval of the U.S. plan. Demonstrations were held in southern Beirut and across regions known for strong support of resistance groups. Protesters accused the government of capitulating to Western demands at the expense of national sovereignty.
The Lebanese Army is expected to submit a detailed plan on arms regulation by the end of August. However, Fadlallah asserted that Hezbollah does not recognize the authority of such directives and that its stance remains unchanged.
