Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemedti), so-called commander of Sudan’s sepratist Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has again accused Egypt of directly supporting the Sudanese Army by providing combat aircraft, pilots, and military vehicles used in strikes against RSF-held areas.
In a video address on June 3, Hemedti alleged that Egypt had delivered eight fighter jets piloted by Egyptians, which were then used to bomb Darfur and Kordofan from Sudan’s northern city of Dongola. He described the action as a “blatant act of aggression against the Sudanese people.”
He also claimed that 32 military trucks entered Sudan via Egypt on Sunday, further strengthening the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
RSF Claims Drone Support to SAF from Unknown Sources
Hemedti added that the SAF is receiving drones from unnamed foreign actors, though he refrained from disclosing the suppliers. He reiterated that the RSF would not return to peace talks under current conditions.
"The time for bargaining is over. There can be no peace with those who bomb their own people and refuse to admit their crimes,” he said.
Cairo Rejects Previous Allegations
Egypt has previously denied Hemedti’s accusations, asserting that its military is not involved in Sudan’s internal conflict. A statement by Egypt’s Foreign Ministry emphasized its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, peace, and stability.
The war between the SAF, led by Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the RSF has displaced more than 15 million people and killed over 20,000 since erupting in April 2023.
