Egypt, Qatar, and Israel are holding two days of meetings in Cairo aimed at advancing humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and negotiating issues related to a ceasefire, according to Cairo News Channel. These discussions are part of Egypt’s ongoing efforts to broker a truce and remove obstacles to delivering essential supplies to Palestinians in the besieged enclave.

Sources say the parties have made progress on the humanitarian elements of the proposed ceasefire agreement, focusing on facilitating the flow of aid into Gaza and ensuring the evacuation of people from the territory.

The talks come as Israel has presented a third proposal outlining adjustments to its military positions during any ceasefire period. According to reports, Israel is prepared to reduce its forces along Gaza’s southern border near Rafah, scaling back deployments between the Morag and Philadelphi crossings.

Israel’s new military map suggests its forces would remain positioned primarily along the Gaza-Egypt border during the proposed 60-day ceasefire, potentially easing tensions tied to the volume and location of Israeli military presence in the area.

These Cairo discussions follow previous indirect negotiations between Israel and Hamas in Doha, which had stalled over disputes concerning the extent of Israeli military withdrawals, particularly from southern Gaza.

Egypt’s diplomatic push underscores its role as a central mediator in efforts to de-escalate the conflict and ensure humanitarian relief reaches Gaza’s civilian population.
