Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was removed from his residence in Canberra late Tuesday due to an email threat claiming explosives had been placed around The Lodge. The email, written in Chinese, targeted a performance by the Shen Yun Performing Arts troupe, banned in China, which is scheduled to perform in Australia this month.

Authorities searched the area and found no dangerous items. Albanese returned to his residence a few hours later and emphasized the importance of maintaining calm.

Prime Minister Calls for Restraint

Speaking at an event in Melbourne on Wednesday, Albanese said: “I think it’s just a reminder, take every opportunity to tell people, turn the heat down for goodness sake. We can’t take these things for granted.”

He expressed gratitude to law enforcement and national security teams for ensuring public safety and protecting elected officials. Earlier, Albanese shared a photo on Instagram of his dog at The Lodge, thanking the police for their work.

Authorities Investigate Threat

The Shen Yun spokesperson confirmed that the threat had been reported to Australian authorities. Police declined to comment on the source of the threat, and no further details have been disclosed.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns around security for public figures and scheduled international events in Australia.
