Trump described the accords as “the foundation of peace in the Middle East,” recalling that the 2020 deals established formal diplomatic ties between Israel and four Arab nations.
According to experts, the accords may provide a diplomatic framework that indirectly supports the recent Gaza ceasefire process.
During his visit to Israel on Monday, President Trump once again highlighted the importance of the Abraham Accords.
He stated that the agreements had “melted the diplomatic ice between Israel and the Arab world” and stressed that the United States should “expand and strengthen this process” in the coming years.
Signed in 2020, the Abraham Accords marked a historic normalization of relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan.
The process broke decades of diplomatic isolation within the Arab world and paved the way for a new network of economic and security cooperation across the region.
The name “Abraham” was deliberately chosen to symbolize the shared patriarch of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—reflecting the idea of peaceful coexistence among different faiths.
The Abraham Accords represent a significant step toward ending long-standing diplomatic estrangement in the Middle East and strengthening regional cooperation.
They established a new foundation for economic, political, and cultural ties among the participating nations—marking one of the most consequential shifts in Middle Eastern diplomacy in recent decades.
