The MNJTF stated that the surrendered individuals confessed to participating in terrorist acts in areas including Bakatolerom, Barkalam, Litri, and Kaiga Ngbouboun. Sector 2 Commander Maj.-Gen. Moussa Haussa praised the troops’ efforts, calling the development a “major blow” to insurgent remnants. Ten weapons of various calibres were recovered during the operation.
Reintegration and Rehabilitation Plans
The MNJTF announced that the former fighters would be treated humanely and enrolled in a deradicalisation programme. Chad’s regional governor, Brig.-Gen. Saleh Haggar Tidjani, confirmed that the fighters would also receive vocational training to support their reintegration into civilian life. The initiative aims to reduce recidivism and foster long-term stability in the Lake Chad basin.
