According to Yonhap News Agency, the drills included at least one US B-52H bomber, showcasing long-range strike capabilities. South Korea deployed its KF-16 fighter jets, while Japan contributed F-2 fighters. The exercise was conducted to improve joint operational readiness and demonstrate a unified stance against Pyongyang’s provocations.
“Based on close coordination, the three countries will cooperate to jointly deter and respond to North Korea's threats while continuing with three-way training,” South Korea's defense ministry stated.
The trilateral air maneuvers follow a series of military and diplomatic steps aimed at reinforcing regional security. The drills are part of a broader pattern of increasing alignment among the US, Japan, and South Korea in the face of North Korea’s advancing weapons programs and repeated missile launches.
This latest show of force also comes shortly after trilateral talks at the ASEAN forum, highlighting the urgency of coordinated responses in the Indo-Pacific.
