Russia has taken delivery of a new batch of Su-57 fifth-generation fighter jets, marking another step in the modernization of its air force as the war in Ukraine continues, state defense conglomerate Rostec announced.
Upgraded Configuration Delivered
In a statement on Monday, Rostec said its subsidiary, the United Aircraft Corporation, manufactured and delivered a large number of Su-57 aircraft in a new technical configuration to the Russian Defense Ministry. The company said the fighters were equipped with upgraded onboard systems and an enhanced weapons complex.
According to Rostec, the aircraft completed a full cycle of factory trials before being evaluated by military pilots across various operational modes, including combat simulations.
Combat-Tested and Modernized
Rostec chief executive Sergey Chemezov said Russian aviation plants are meeting delivery schedules while continuously modernizing equipment based on operational feedback and battlefield requirements.
“The Su-57 is a formidable weapon that has proven its effectiveness on the front line,” Chemezov said, adding that the fifth-generation fighter is capable of operating even against advanced enemy air-defense systems.
He described the newly delivered aircraft as “even more powerful and dangerous” than previous versions.
Multi-Role Capabilities
The Su-57 is designed to carry out a wide range of missions, including strikes against air, ground, and naval targets. The aircraft is capable of operating day and night, in adverse weather conditions, and under electronic jamming.
Its low-observable design is intended to reduce detection by modern air-defense systems, allowing it to maintain effectiveness in contested airspace.
Rostec’s Role
Rostec is one of Russia’s largest state-owned industrial conglomerates, playing a central role in the country’s military-industrial complex, aerospace sector, and long-term strategic planning.
