Türkiye has opened TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan 2026 at Golcuk Naval Shipyard Command, using the four-day event to showcase the ships, autonomous systems and engineering programs behind its “Blue Homeland” maritime strategy.
Running from August 20 to 23, the festival brings together 37 Turkish naval elements and platforms, including TCG Anadolu, TCG Istanbul, TCG Derya, frigates, corvettes and submarines, alongside unmanned surface and underwater systems.
The name choice is central to the event.
What ‘Blue Homeland’ Means
“Mavi Vatan,” or “Blue Homeland,” is the concept that Türkiye’s surrounding seas, maritime rights and strategic interests should be treated as a national domain comparable in importance to its land territory.
It covers Türkiye’s approach to sovereignty, security, resources and maritime jurisdiction in the Black Sea, Aegean and Mediterranean.
The festival turns that strategic concept into a public display of naval power, domestic industry and emerging maritime technology.
Warships, Submarines and Unmanned Systems
TCG Anadolu is the largest vessel on display, joined by combat ships including TCG Istanbul, TCG Barbaros, TCG Salihreis, TCG Turgutreis and TCG Burgazada.
Autonomous platforms are another central feature. ULAQ, SANCAR, MARLIN and SALVO are being exhibited, while ASELSAN’s DERİNGÖZ autonomous underwater vehicle is being demonstrated in Gölcük waters.
The event will also feature the MILDEN test block, linked to Türkiye’s effort to develop an indigenous submarine.
Building the Next Maritime Technologies
Three main competitions focus on Unmanned Underwater Systems, Unmanned Surface Vehicles and Underwater Rockets.
The festival puts autonomy, underwater navigation, sensing, and remotely operated naval systems at the center, while giving student and engineering teams a direct role in developing prototypes.
Daily SAT and SAS special-forces demonstrations, naval aviation displays and UAV flights add an operational element to the event.
Why Golcuk Matters
Holding TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan at Golcuk Naval Shipyard Command is part of the message.
Rather than using a conventional exhibition center, the organizers have placed the event inside one of Türkiye’s principal naval shipbuilding and submarine hubs, directly linking engineers, defense companies, the Navy and the public.
The significance of TEKNOFEST Mavi Vatan lies in that combination.
It is not simply a display of warships. It presents Türkiye’s “Blue Homeland” concept as an industrial and technological project built around shipbuilding, autonomous systems, submarine development, engineering talent and naval capability.
