Iran has witnessed a wave of explosions across several major cities, raising security concerns and fueling speculation over possible coordinated attacks as officials work to clarify the causes and rule out foreign involvement.
Explosions Reported In Multiple Cities
According to Iranian sources, explosions were reported in at least four cities across the country in a short span of time. Incidents occurred in the capital Tehran, the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, the religious city of Qom, and Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran.
Authorities have stressed that the incidents were not linked and should not be viewed as a coordinated attack.
IRGC Denies Targeted Attack
The most serious incident occurred in Bandar Abbas, where an explosion hit an eight-story building in Hormozgan province. Following the blast, claims emerged that the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy had been targeted.
In a statement, the IRGC rejected the allegation, saying no commander was targeted and that the explosion was caused by a natural gas leak.
Iranian state television reported that two floors of the building collapsed, damaging nearby vehicles and businesses. Firefighters and search-and-rescue teams were dispatched to the scene.
Casualties Remain Unconfirmed
The head of Hormozgan Province’s Crisis Management Authority said there were reports claiming four people were killed and 10 injured, but noted that these figures have not yet been officially confirmed.
Authorities said investigations are ongoing and that no final report has been issued on the exact cause of the explosion.
Explosion Also Reported In Tehran
Separately, an explosion was reported in Tehran, Iran’s capital. Iranian officials have not released detailed information about casualties or damage in the incident, and no official link has been established between the Tehran blast and explosions elsewhere in the country.
Blast Near Qom Raises Concern
Another explosion occurred in Qom, a city near Tehran known as the birthplace of the Islamic Revolution and a major center for training Iran’s clerical establishment. Officials said the incident caused material damage, though further details remain limited.
Deadly Gas Explosion In Ahvaz
In Ahvaz, Iranian media reported that a gas leak triggered an explosion in a four-unit residential building. Authorities confirmed that four people were killed in the blast. Rescue teams continue searching the rubble for possible survivors.
Israel Denies Involvement
Amid speculation about foreign involvement, Israeli officials told Reuters that Israel was not involved in the explosions in Iran, seeking to distance Tel Aviv from the incidents as tensions remain high in the region.
