The U.S. House Oversight Committee is coordinating with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein to secure sworn affidavits following allegations that Lesley Groff, the financier’s longtime assistant, provided false testimony to lawmakers.

Three sources familiar with the matter confirmed the ongoing discussions between congressional investigators and the survivors.

Lawmakers have asked at least one survivor and the family members of another victim to review the transcript of Groff’s June interview to identify any fabrications.

“We need affidavits, sworn affidavits,” House Oversight Chair James Comer said. “We’re trying to do this just like any court in America would do.”

Potential Criminal Referral

Committee investigators are heavily scrutinizing Groff’s testimony against the broader Epstein files to determine their accuracy.

Delivering false statements to Congress constitutes a felony offense.

Comer indicated that a formal criminal referral to the Department of Justice remains a distinct possibility if investigators find conclusive evidence of perjury.

“Once we question them, we are giving the victims the transcripts and letting them thoroughly go over that and say ‘do you see anything that you think is not true?’ And if they say that, then we’re going back, and we’re doing research to see if they lied to Congress,” Comer stated.

Disputed Testimony

Groff managed Epstein’s daily schedule for nearly two decades. During her transcribed session with the panel, she denied any knowledge of his illicit activities, claiming she was deceived by her employer.

Her account has drawn immediate and fierce disputes from at least six survivors who contend she lied about key interactions. Groff testified she never met the women or girls she scheduled for appointments.

Lara Blume McGee and Lisa Phillips independently verified meeting Groff in person at Epstein’s properties.

Furthermore, survivors maintain that Groff handled payments directly, distributing cash in white envelopes.

Identifying Minors

Groff also told lawmakers she never requested the ages of Epstein's visitors and remained unaware that many were high school students.

Multiple survivors directly contradict these assertions.

Marina Lacerda stated that Groff requested detailed physical descriptions, ages, and even school identification cards.

Another survivor, Sharlene Rochard, noted that Groff possessed her passport details to coordinate travel arrangements.

An anonymous victim reported that Groff frequently contacted her private Catholic school to arrange early dismissals and witnessed her in a school uniform.

Legal representatives for Groff did not respond to requests for comment regarding the discrepancies.

Lacerda has formally agreed to submit a sworn affidavit to the committee concerning Groff's actions.
