Israeli forces launched a wide-scale raid across the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem on Sunday, detaining a former Palestinian prisoner in Balata refugee camp near Nablus. According to local sources, the incursion triggered confrontations as Palestinian youth hurled improvised explosives, though no Israeli casualties were reported.
Military raids also hit the villages of Qusra and Majdal Bani Fadil south of Nablus, where Israeli troops fired heavily on residents. The army also stormed the village of Marka near Jenin, and demanded residents of al-Jabriyat neighborhood evacuate their homes under threat of demolition.
Settler Violence and Civilian Injuries
Clashes escalated in multiple areas including Hazma near Jerusalem, where three Palestinians were wounded by live fire. In Hebron’s Susiya and Khirbet Khillet al-Dabe’ villages, settler violence continued for a third time in 24 hours, injuring at least eight Palestinians, according to medical sources.
Settlers also burned down a residential shack belonging to a Palestinian in the Jordan Valley, while assaults by armed settlers in Jericho’s north targeted the al-Malihat Bedouin community under military escort.
Systematic Targeting and Human Rights Concerns
The Palestinian Red Crescent reported over 11 injuries from Israeli army and settler attacks within the past 24 hours in Jerusalem and Hebron. Israeli troops also detained freed detainee Jihad Saleh Mahmoud Hamid in Tubas, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The head of the Bader Organization for Bedouin Rights, Hassan Mleihat, warned that settler raids and state-backed demolitions aim to expel indigenous residents by force. He called on the international community to halt these practices and ensure protection for vulnerable Bedouin groups.
Growing Civilian Toll Since Gaza War
Since the Israeli assault on Gaza began on October 7, military activity in the West Bank has surged. At least 986 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 7,000 wounded in the West Bank, according to Palestinian reports.
Statements by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials have reinforced fears of formal annexation of the West Bank, further intensifying tensions on the ground.
