At least 10 people were killed and dozens wounded in Quetta, southwestern Pakistan, when a suicide bomber rammed a vehicle into the Frontier Corps headquarters on September 30, 2025. The blast was followed by a gun assault, prompting security forces to engage the attackers in a firefight that left several dead.
The Attack and Immediate Response
The explosion tore through the entrance of the paramilitary compound, shattering nearby buildings and vehicles. Provincial officials confirmed that after the bombing, gunmen attempted to enter the base but were neutralised by security forces. Emergency units rushed victims to local hospitals, where a state of alert was declared to handle the influx of casualties.
Casualties and Official Statements
Health authorities reported 10 dead, including both civilians and soldiers, and more than 30 injured. Provincial Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti denounced the assault, insisting that development and security plans for the province would continue despite such acts of violence. He stated: “These cowardly attacks cannot deter us from bringing development and prosperity to our people.”
Balochistan’s Security Challenges
Quetta, the provincial capital, lies in Balochistan, a restive region bordering Afghanistan and Iran. The province is rich in minerals and hosts the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor, making it a frequent target of separatists and Islamist militants. In recent months, attacks have intensified, often directed at Pakistani security forces and Chinese-linked infrastructure projects.
