U.S. intelligence suggests that Israel may be preparing to launch a strike against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, CNN reported Tuesday, citing multiple officials familiar with the classified assessments. Though it remains unclear whether Israeli leaders have reached a final decision, analysts believe the likelihood of military action has increased in recent months.

The assessment is based on intercepted Israeli communications, private and public statements from senior Israeli officials, and observable military activity, including the movement of air munitions and the completion of air exercises, CNN said.

Deepening U.S.-Israel Tensions Over Iran

Sources told CNN that a strike could be triggered if the U.S. secures a nuclear deal with Iran that does not fully eliminate its uranium stockpile. The Biden administration, following in the footsteps of Trump-era diplomacy, has engaged Tehran in talks aimed at curbing its nuclear capabilities. However, Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Tuesday that U.S. demands were "excessive and outrageous," casting doubt on the talks’ success.

The White House, National Security Council, and Israeli officials declined to comment on the CNN report, and Reuters could not independently verify the intelligence.

Strategic Calculations as Red Lines Near

While U.S. policymakers debate Israel’s next move, one official cited by CNN noted that “the chance of a strike has gone up significantly.” Military analysts warn that any such operation would likely prompt retaliation from Iran and could inflame tensions across the Middle East.

This report emerges amid escalating regional hostilities, particularly as Israeli airstrikes in Gaza face mounting international criticism and Iran continues to resist U.S. demands over uranium enrichment.
