The U.S. and China have agreed to lower tariffs on $30 billion in less sensitive trade in each direction, the two sides said following Xi Jinping’s summit with Donald Trump in Washington.
The agreement gives the meeting a concrete trade outcome, focused on exports the two governments regard as less sensitive.
AI Talks and Further Meetings
Washington and Beijing also agreed to open a bilateral dialogue on artificial intelligence by November.
Trump and Xi plan to meet twice more this year at multilateral gatherings in Shenzhen, China, and Miami.
