U.N.: No Aid Reached Gaza Despite Israeli Pledge
U.N. confirms no aid has reached Gaza warehouses yet. Israeli delays, truck unloading rules blocked delivery efforts.
The United Nations announced that no humanitarian aid has been successfully delivered to Palestinians in Gaza, despite Israel’s recent pledge to allow limited supplies through. U.N. spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric stated that although several aid trucks were permitted to cross into Gaza, logistical and security restrictions prevented aid workers from reaching distribution centers.
Trucks carrying baby food and other essentials were delayed, forced to unload and reload under Israeli supervision, and ultimately ran out of time before nightfall. "Extremely difficult" conditions on the ground continue to block aid delivery, Dujarric said.
Global Outcry and Suspended Trade Talks
Israel had agreed to allow 100 aid trucks per day between Monday and Friday following international outcry over the worsening humanitarian crisis. However, Britain has now suspended free trade negotiations with Israel, and EU states have pledged to review economic ties unless substantial aid access is restored.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended the minimal deliveries, claiming they were made “for practical and diplomatic reasons,” as allies reportedly warned that images of famine could no longer be tolerated.
Aid Groups Condemn ‘Token’ Measures
Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) harshly criticized the limited aid deliveries, calling them a “ridiculously inadequate amount of aid” and a “smokescreen to pretend the siege is over.” U.N. officials and aid agencies stress that humanitarian operations remain paralyzed.
On the ground, Palestinian families continue to suffer. Wissam, a displaced father of six in Mawasi, said they survive on a single daily meal of lentils, with no bread available due to the absence of flour.
While aid remains stuck, Israeli military operations have intensified. The Israeli Air Force claimed it struck over 115 targets in the past 24 hours. Naval and ground forces also participated in assaults on northern Gaza, further complicating humanitarian access.
