Peace talks involving the United States, Russia and Ukraine have been paused amid the ongoing Iran war, according to a report by Russian newspaper Izvestia citing Kremlin officials.

According to the report, the trilateral discussions aimed at addressing the Ukraine conflict have been temporarily suspended as global attention shifts to the escalating situation involving Iran. Russian officials confirmed the pause, though they did not indicate when negotiations might resume.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that while the broader peace dialogue is on hold, certain diplomatic channels remain active. He noted that Russian presidential envoy Kirill Dmitriev will continue working on investment and economic cooperation matters.

Peskov was quoted as saying that the “trilateral group is on pause,” clarifying that the suspension applies specifically to the U.S.-Russia-Ukraine format of talks rather than all forms of engagement.

The report also suggested that the Iran war could indirectly influence the Ukraine peace process. Russian officials indicated that the evolving geopolitical landscape may place additional pressure on Kyiv, potentially encouraging it to consider concessions in future negotiations.
