The man allegedly arrived in Ukraine in January 2024 to work as a military instructor before being recruited by Russia’s FSB.

Officials claim he later attempted to infiltrate Ukrainian command structures and prepare attacks as part of a broader intelligence network.

Recruitment And Information Transfer

Security officials said the suspect delivered operational data directly to Russian handlers, including the coordinates of training centers, the identities of Ukrainian service members, and details of foreign instructors. He was reportedly promised “easy money” for cooperation.

A statement shows he attempted to gain access to senior unit commanders in exchange for roughly $6,000.

Planned Attacks And Weapons Access

Authorities allege he received instructions for assembling an improvised explosive device and was directed to a pistol with two loaded magazines.

He is suspected of preparing “planned terrorist attacks,” according to investigators, and attempting to use his instructor role in Mykolaiv to collect sensitive information for Russia.

Deepening Spy Links And FSB Handling

The suspect reportedly worked briefly with Ukrainian border units near the front line, during which time prosecutors say the FSB secured his commitment.

Officials claim he attempted to expand access to command nodes while providing regular updates to his Russian contacts. Ukrainian security services say he was detained in October after weeks of surveillance.

Possible Sentence And Legal Steps

He is being held on suspicion of passing unauthorized information to a foreign intelligence service, an offense punishable by up to 12 years in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors say additional charges may follow as investigators analyze electronic communications and mapping data seized during arrest operations.
