The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its “steadfast commitment” to the aspirations of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan published a strongly worded statement reiterating that his country would continue to push for international recognition of Palestine and increase humanitarian support amid ongoing war in Gaza.
Writing in Al-Ittihad newspaper, the minister said: “Since its founding, the UAE has made standing with just causes—especially the Palestinian cause—a core principle of its foreign policy.”
Political Recognition and International Momentum
Sheikh Abdullah welcomed recent announcements from multiple countries preparing to formally recognize a Palestinian state at the upcoming UN General Assembly. He called these developments a “historic transformation,” reflecting a growing global awareness of Palestinian rights. “Recognition is no longer a political choice—it is a legal, moral, and humanitarian necessity,” he wrote.
The minister also stressed that peace can only be achieved through just political solutions that uphold human dignity and international legitimacy, echoing the UAE’s long-standing diplomatic position.
Extensive Humanitarian Role in Gaza
The UAE has delivered more than 4,300 tons of aid to Gaza in just the past week, including food, medicine, and water supplies, via air drops and humanitarian convoys. The country also operates a floating field hospital and has launched major water and health infrastructure projects in the war-torn territory.
“Our support is not temporary or circumstantial. It stems from a deep-rooted moral and national commitment,” Sheikh Abdullah stated, citing Operation “Gallant Knight 3” as part of the UAE’s coordinated relief effort.
He also called on countries that have yet to recognize Palestine to reconsider their stance: “Recognition is not just support for a people—it is a step toward securing the future of an entire region.”
A Call for Global Peace Based on Justice
Sheikh Abdullah concluded by emphasizing that genuine peace requires justice, mutual recognition, and the protection of rights. “Recognition opens doors to reconciliation, while denial only breeds tension and violence,” he said, reaffirming the UAE’s dedication to a two-state solution based on international law.
