Lindsey Graham, one of the most influential figures in the US Senate, sparked a fresh debate over Türkiye-Israel and US-Türkiye relations with his remarks following a visit to Israel. Known for his pro-Israel stance, Graham claimed that Türkiye’s involvement at the table to help stabilize Gaza would be unacceptable from Israel’s perspective.

“Türkiye’s Role Disturbs Israel”

Speaking after his meetings in Israel, Graham said Türkiye’s potential role in a peace or stabilization force would cause serious discomfort in Israel.

“The idea of Türkiye being part of a stabilizing force at the peace table fundamentally shakes Israel,” Graham said, stressing that there is no political support in Israel for such a role. Reiterating his position, he added that the presence of Turkish troops in an international force in Gaza would be unacceptable to Israel.

F-35 Message: “Giving Them to Türkiye Is a Mistake”

Graham also addressed defense issues, making clear his opposition to providing F-35 fighter jets to Türkiye. The Republican senator stated bluntly, “Giving F-35s to Türkiye is a mistake,” clearly outlining his criticism toward Ankara.

Harsh Rhetoric on Hamas and Gaza

Graham said Hamas was also discussed during his meeting with Netanyahu, claiming that the group has not disarmed and is instead rearming. However, he described these claims as his “impressions” and did not present any concrete data or evidence.

“We need to quickly put forward a plan. Hamas must be put on a timetable and given a defined period to disarm. If they do not, I would encourage President Trump to give Israel the freedom to completely eliminate Hamas,” he said.

Warning to Hezbollah

Graham also sent a message to Hezbollah, saying, “If Lebanon, the US and Israel act together, we can neutralize Hezbollah.” He claimed that Hezbollah is also trying to increase its weapons production, again noting that this assessment was based on his personal impressions.
