Brigadier General Ahmed al-Dalati, Syria's commander of internal security in Suwayda, has strongly denied claims made in a Reuters report that he held direct negotiations with Israeli officials.
In a statement released via state broadcaster Alekhbariah, Dalati declared:
“I categorically deny any involvement in direct negotiations with the Israeli side. I would like to emphasise that these allegations are baseless and lack veracity and credibility.”
The rebuttal comes days after Reuters reported that Dalati was allegedly involved in face-to-face meetings with Israeli security representatives aimed at calming border tensions.
Dalati reaffirmed the Syrian government’s stance on national integrity. “The Syrian leadership is taking all necessary measures to protect the Syrian people and to defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic, using all legitimate means,” Dalati said.
His remarks suggest a sharp rejection of any normalization efforts with Israel, particularly amid regional speculation following U.S.-backed indirect engagement channels.
