SAF spokesperson Brigadier General Nabil Abdullah confirmed the military’s control over Kazgeil and El Rayash, both previously held by RSF forces. Video circulated by pro-SAF media showed troops at Kazgeil’s entrance, celebrating the operation. The RSF had taken Kazgeil in late May but lost it again in this latest wave of fighting.

According to military sources, SAF troops are now preparing to push toward El Hammadi. The town has changed hands multiple times over recent weeks.

Kordofan Becomes Conflict Flashpoint

North Kordofan has become a pivotal battleground in Sudan's broader war between SAF and RSF. Analysts suggest the RSF sees the region as a buffer zone protecting its strongholds further west. SAF’s tightening grip around Khartoum has intensified fighting in the Kordofan region, making it a new epicentre in the conflict.

Observers warn of further escalation as SAF advances toward Darfur—largely controlled by RSF—raising the risk of a broader regional breakdown.

Humanitarian Crisis Mounts In El Obeid

The UN's International Organization for Migration reported over 3,000 families fled their homes in at least 12 villages north of Bara. State officials said more than 30,000 people have arrived in El Obeid, the state capital, including entire villages like Um Zein.

The influx coincides with a cholera outbreak in El Obeid, putting further pressure on already stretched health services.
