Somalia, Turkmenistan Discuss Closer Political, Trade Ties
Deputy Foreign Ministers from Somalia and Turkmenistan held bilateral talks in Awaza to deepen cooperation in politics, trade, and culture.

Deputy Minister Mursal reaffirmed Somalia’s support for Turkmenistan’s peace-oriented foreign policy and multilateral initiatives. He also praised the Central Asian country's leadership role in organizing the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3), which aims to promote global solidarity with states facing geographic and economic barriers.
The two delegations emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue and coordination through international platforms, especially the United Nations. They also noted the potential for stronger partnerships in regional development and global peacebuilding efforts.
The talks concluded with both parties agreeing to intensify diplomatic relations and seek new areas of mutual interest. Economic cooperation, educational exchange, and infrastructure partnerships were among the key sectors identified for potential collaboration. Officials said the meeting marked a renewed effort to transform political goodwill into concrete diplomatic and developmental projects.
