Officials stressed that disrupting the militant group’s economic base is now a central pillar of the government’s security strategy. The Defence Ministry praised the coordinated role of national institutions in aiding military efforts, describing the operation as proof that “this is not a one-dimensional conflict—it is a united national struggle.”
The investigation is part of Somalia’s broader push to weaken Al-Shabaab’s logistical capabilities and reduce its ability to fund operations, recruit fighters, and expand influence. The ministry reaffirmed that the Somali National Army, supported by international partners, is committed to dismantling both the physical and financial structures of the group.
Despite territorial setbacks, Al-Shabaab remains capable of launching deadly attacks, underscoring the need for integrated counterinsurgency efforts targeting the group’s remaining strongholds and financial lifelines.
Public Support And Institutional Coordination Praised
In its statement, the Defence Ministry highlighted the crucial role of public solidarity in advancing security operations, stating that “the Somali people, standing side by side with their national army, are sacrificing everything in this fight.” The ministry commended the Office of the Attorney General for leading the financial investigation and reiterated its commitment to maintaining momentum on all fronts—military, legal, and economic.
The government also underscored the symbolic importance of this achievement, framing it as a message to both domestic and international observers that Somalia is strengthening its state institutions and working to stabilize the country through lawful means.
