The Somali National Army (SNA), alongside local Macawiisley fighters, carried out a coordinated operation on the morning of 4 July in the Moora Godan area, located about five kilometers north of Raaga Ceelle in the Middle Shabelle region. The operation specifically targeted an Al-Shabaab facility believed to be used for treating injured fighters and organizing future attacks.

Operation Disrupts Militant Activity

According to officials, the joint forces destroyed the site, inflicting heavy losses on the group and weakening its ability to conduct further operations. The Somali Ministry of Defence commended the role of local communities in supporting national security efforts and reaffirmed its commitment to continued action against what it referred to as the “Khawarij,” a term often used by Somali authorities to describe Al-Shabaab.

Continued Offensive Against Armed Groups

The ministry stated that the military and allied community forces will maintain operations to secure the country and protect civilians from ongoing threats. The action in Moora Godan is part of a broader campaign to dismantle Al-Shabaab’s logistical and operational networks in central Somalia.
