The Somali National Army, in coordination with security partners, has launched a major overnight offensive in the Tardo area of Hiiraan region, dealing a significant blow to Kharijite militants. According to Somali security officials, the strike targeted a central gathering point used by the group, destroying several combat vehicles and disrupting what was described as an important operational base. The facility had been instrumental in staging attacks and exerting control over nearby communities, officials said.

Security forces reported that the targeted site had been a key hub for the Kharijites’ logistical and operational planning, enabling them to coordinate raids and sustain their presence in the region. The destruction of both infrastructure and transport assets is expected to hinder the group’s mobility and its capacity to launch further attacks.

Authorities hailed the success of the operation as a critical milestone in ongoing counterterrorism efforts, reaffirming the Somali government’s commitment to dismantling militant networks and restoring security across Hiiraan and other affected regions.

The offensive in Tardo forms part of a broader national campaign aimed at eliminating Kharijite influence in Somalia. Government and allied forces have intensified operations in multiple regions in recent months, combining air and ground strikes with intelligence-led targeting of militant leadership. Somali officials reiterated that operations will continue until the group’s operational capacity is fully neutralized, underscoring their determination to end its threat to civilian populations.
