Russia Unleashes Massive Air Assault on Ukraine, Kills 12
Russia launched one of its largest missile and drone attacks of the war, killing at least 12 civilians across Ukraine. Nearly 400 aerial weapons were used, including Iranian drones and North Korean missiles.
In a devastating escalation, Russia launched nearly 400 drones and missiles in a multi-hour overnight bombardment across Ukraine, killing at least 12 civilians and injuring more than 60. Ukraine’s Air Force said the assault included 69 ballistic and cruise missiles and 298 Shahed drones, making it the largest single air attack in the war so far in terms of munitions used.
The targets included residential areas, dormitories, and industrial zones in 13 regions including Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Zhytomyr, and Khmelnytskyi. Among the dead were three children from the same family.
Zelensky: “Silence Only Emboldens Putin”
President Volodymyr Zelensky sharply criticized the muted response from the West, especially the United States. “The world may go into weekend mode, but the war does not stop,” he wrote on Telegram. “Silence of America and others only emboldens Putin.”
Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha echoed the call for stronger action, saying, “When the entire world calls for an end to the killing, Putin orders even more strikes.”
Ukraine’s Air Force identified the drones as Iranian-made Shaheds and confirmed that some of the missiles used were supplied by North Korea. Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed the strikes targeted “military production,” but Ukrainian officials reported widespread civilian casualties and destruction of non-military infrastructure.
