At least 60 Palestinians were killed in Gaza on Saturday as Israeli military operations targeted civilians waiting for humanitarian aid and struck multiple areas across the besieged strip. Among the dead were 35 individuals gathered west of Rafah in hopes of receiving assistance, according to Palestinian medical sources.
The violence marked another deadly escalation in the ongoing conflict, with dozens more reported injured amid relentless shelling and airstrikes on displaced persons camps, residential areas, and aid distribution points.
Medical sources confirmed three Palestinians were shot and killed by Israeli forces near aid distribution points west of Rafah. The latest deaths bring the toll of those killed while seeking humanitarian assistance to 35, underscoring the growing risks civilians face simply trying to access food and aid.
In Khan Younis, two Palestinians were killed by Israeli shelling, while in northern Gaza, another two died when artillery targeted a group of civilians. Additional strikes on a tented camp for displaced people near a school resulted in 17 injuries, according to reports.
Other injuries were reported following an attack on a residential apartment block in Gaza City.
These latest casualties come amid a worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where reports indicate rising deaths from hunger and malnutrition alongside the casualties from ongoing violence.
The continued targeting of civilians and aid seekers reflects the deteriorating conditions facing Gaza’s population, already reeling from months of conflict, blockade, and displacement.
