The protocol commits both sides to cease all hostilities, with the goal of ending cycles of revenge and retaliation that have destabilized western Logone.

Officials said the conflict stemmed from longstanding tensions over land access, pasture rights, and property protection—issues that have repeatedly led to unrest in the region.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of turning reconciliation into lasting actions, declaring that “peace must be rooted in hearts as well as in deeds.” The Mandakau agreement aligns with broader national efforts to preserve Chad’s unity and social cohesion, especially amid persistent regional challenges.

Authorities now face the task of implementing the accord’s provisions and supporting displaced and affected communities as they work toward recovery.
