Chinese intelligence and academic circles suspect that Israel orchestrated the recent mass migration crisis in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.

Reports circulating in Beijing suggest the border surge was a calculated hybrid warfare operation directed by Mossad and facilitated by Morocco to destabilize the Spanish government, according to El Mundo.

The strategic assessment links the disruption directly to the deteriorating diplomatic relations between Madrid and Tel Aviv.

Spain has faced severe backlash from Israel following its vocal criticism of the Gaza military campaign and its official recognition of a Palestinian state.

Nadia Helmy, an Egyptian political scientist specializing in Sino-Israeli relations, noted that Beijing security analysts view the Ceuta events as a deliberate pressure campaign targeting the administration of Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.

"Chinese intelligence analysis centers have examined the escalation of diplomatic and political tensions between Spain and Israel," Helmy stated. "From that perspective, the deterioration of bilateral relations could have motivated Mossad to get involved in the migration crisis between Morocco and Spain, exacerbating the situation and infiltrating agents to foment discontent and chaos among the Moroccan population."

International Accusations

The intelligence theory advanced in Beijing is actively discussed among diplomats and political analysts operating near the Chinese political establishment.

These circles continually question the timing of the border assault and its correlation with Madrid's shifting Middle East policies.

"Since the normalization of relations in 2020, Morocco and Israel have become allies and strengthened their defense and intelligence cooperation," a diplomat familiar with the matter noted.

The accusations against Israeli intelligence extend beyond Chinese academic corridors. Colombian President Gustavo Petro publicly accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of engineering the Ceuta migration wave.

Petro alleged that Netanyahu financed the movement of migrants to Spain and accused Rabat of submitting to Israeli geopolitical designs as retaliation against governments critical of Middle East operations.

Economic Stakes

While internal intelligence assessments focus on hybrid warfare, official Chinese state media has maintained a strictly European focus.
