Malian Army Strikes Kill Dozens Of Fighters Across North
The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) conducted multiple airstrikes between July 15 and 19 targeting terrorist camps and convoys in Menaka, Segou, and Tombuktu regions.
According to a military communiqué, FAMa, with air support from the Special Air Squadron (AES), neutralized approximately 40 fighters on July 15 in the Anderamboukane sector of the Menaka region. Intelligence indicated the militants had gathered in the area for operational planning.
Two days later, on July 17, FAMa targeted and destroyed a logistics and training base in the Niono sector of the Segou region. Roughly 30 fighters were killed in the operation, which reportedly disrupted a major support hub for armed groups operating in central Mali.
These actions are part of a continued military campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, particularly those affiliated with Islamic State or Al-Qaeda factions active in the Sahel.
Convoy Destroyed Near Aguelhoc, Camps Hit In Tombuktu
On July 19, Malian forces intercepted and destroyed two pickup trucks transporting armed fighters tasked with monitoring convoy movements toward Aguelhoc. The destruction of these vehicles reportedly thwarted plans for future attacks in the northern Kidal region.
Later the same day, FAMa aircraft struck another logistics and training base in the Tin Aicha sector of the Tombuktu region. No casualty numbers were provided, but the army stated the site had served as a critical support node for militant operations in the area.
The General Staff emphasized that reconnaissance and targeting operations remain ongoing, with a commitment to eliminating all armed terrorist presence within Mali’s borders.
