Maduro’s Resignation Plan Allegedly Proposed
A former Trump administration official told AP that Venezuelan representatives proposed Maduro gradually step down, transferring power to Vice President Delcy Rodríguez, but the White House rejected it.
AP reports that the plan suggested Maduro would leave office within three years, with Vice President Delcy Rodríguez completing his six-year term. Under the proposal, Rodríguez would not run for re-election.

According to the allegations, the White House rejected the plan and continued to question the legitimacy of Maduro’s administration. A U.S. official said the proposal was aimed at easing pressure on the Venezuelan government.
Maduro Denies Allegations
Maduro dismissed the claims as an “attempt to divide our people” and mocked Trump’s authorization of the CIA, saying, “Who can believe the CIA hasn’t been operating in Venezuela for the past 60 years?”
Vice President Rodríguez posted on her Telegram account, calling the reports “FAKE!!” and emphasized that Venezuela’s leadership remains united.
U.S.-Venezuela Crisis
Since September, the U.S. has conducted a series of strikes in the Caribbean Sea targeting alleged drug trafficking originating from Venezuela. The Trump administration deployed three Aegis-guided missile destroyers off Venezuelan waters as part of its efforts against Latin American drug cartels.
Trump also confirmed CIA covert operations in Venezuela, a move intended to create psychological pressure on Maduro and his allies and to encourage perceived fractures within the government.
