Kamala Harris Says She Has Not Decided on a 2028 Presidential Bid
Kamala Harris says she has not yet decided whether to seek the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination. “I will keep you posted,” the former vice president said after Democrats’ midterm gains.

Asked about the 2028 Democratic primary during a call-in to MS NOW’s “Clock It” podcast with Symone Sanders Townsend and Eugene Daniels, Harris kept her options open.
“I will keep you posted. I have not made a decision yet,” she said.
The interview was billed by MS NOW as her first public reaction to the 2026 midterm results, in which Democrats won control of both the House and the Senate.
Focus Shifts From 2026 to 2028
Harris had repeatedly deflected questions about another White House run before the vote, arguing that 2028 would not matter unless Democrats won in 2026. That condition has now been met.
In mid-October she gave a similar answer to a podcast host. “I haven’t decided yet. I will. I promise,” she said.
In April, she told the Rev. Al Sharpton at the National Action Network convention that she was “thinking about” a run, Politico reported.
‘Unstable’ and ‘Reckless’
In the same MS NOW appearance, Harris turned to President Donald Trump after his party’s defeat. “We know that he is unstable. We know that he is reckless,” she said.
She said Trump “doesn’t really care about the well-being of people outside of his immediate circle” and urged Democrats to “be braced and ready.”
She also told the hosts that Democrats must lead “with a certain level of ruthlessness,” adding: “by that I do not mean cruelty.” She had used the same word in remarks late last month.
A Crowded Field Takes Shape
Harris remains among the best-known potential contenders. MS NOW reported in October that people who have worked with her were genuinely unsure whether she would launch another bid.
California Governor Gavin Newsom told CNN in September that he would not run in 2028 if Harris entered the race.
Other Democrats are already building their own operations after the midterms. Michigan Senator-elect Abdul El-Sayed launched a leadership PAC days after his win, while the results have also shaken the Trump administration.
Harris has set no timeline for a decision.
