The Istanbul gathering marks the next phase of diplomacy surrounding Trump’s 20-point Gaza Peace Plan, unveiled on September 29, 2025, and signed in Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13.
The plan envisions a phased withdrawal of Israeli forces, large-scale reconstruction aid, and monitored demilitarization of Gaza.
“The Foreign Ministers Will Gather in Istanbul”
Fidan said, “The Foreign Ministers of Muslim countries, who met with U.S. President Trump in New York to discuss the ceasefire situation in Gaza, will gather in Istanbul on Monday.”
Representatives from the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Pakistan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt are expected to attend.
The countries were part of the September Arab-Islamic summit that condemned Israeli actions in Gaza and coordinated humanitarian and diplomatic responses.
Focus on Ceasefire Implementation
The ministers are expected to assess progress on hostage-prisoner exchanges—involving 48 Israeli hostages for up to 1,700 Palestinian prisoners—and Israeli troop withdrawals tied to Hamas’s demilitarization commitments.
The peace framework includes $50–100 billion in reconstruction funding, largely pledged by Gulf donors.
Gaza Humanitarian Crisis Persists
Gaza’s Health Ministry reports more than 67,000 Palestinians killed and nearly 2 million displaced since October 2023, with famine conditions worsening.
The current October 2025 ceasefire, in effect since mid-month, remains fragile amid sporadic Israeli airstrikes and Hamas accusations of noncompliance.
Türkiye’s Expanding Mediation Role
The Istanbul talks follow October 28–29 meetings in New York with Trump, where ministers pressed for faster aid routes through Jordan and restraint on Israeli settlement expansion.
