“Greater Türkiye” At The Doorstep

Ziv’s most pointed remark captured the tone of his warning:

“The ‘Greater Türkiye’ vision is being realized right at our doorstep, and Israel is asleep on watch.” 

In Ziv’s analysis, Türkiye is capitalizing on regional upheaval to expand its reach southward, filling vacuums left by weakened or collapsed regimes. 

He argues that this expansion is not rhetorical but operational, with tangible military, political, and diplomatic consequences for Israel.

Syria After Assad

A central pillar of Ziv’s argument is post-Assad Syria. 

He has said that the chaos following the regime’s collapse in late 2024 has disproportionately benefited Türkiye, enabling it to entrench influence across northern and central Syria. 

While Iranian presence has receded in some areas, Ziv cautions that Ankara’s advance creates “new and potentially more complex risks” for Israel’s security environment.

Ziv notes that Türkiye’s NATO membership, advanced military capabilities, and growing expeditionary experience differentiate it from other regional actors.

In his view, these factors amplify Ankara’s leverage and complicate Israel’s freedom of action near its northern frontiers.

Gaza And Red Lines

Ziv has been particularly critical of proposals that would involve Turkish forces in Gaza as part of any postwar stabilization framework.

He has described such a scenario as “catastrophic,” arguing it could constrain Israeli military operations, elevate the risk of direct Israel–Türkiye confrontation, and hand Erdoğan a major strategic and political victory.

According to Ziv, Turkish involvement in Gaza would represent not humanitarian engagement but power projection, extending Ankara’s influence into one of Israel’s most sensitive security arenas.

Critique Of Israeli Policy

Beyond Türkiye itself, Ziv directs sharp criticism at Israel’s leadership.

He accuses the Netanyahu government of “burying its head in the sand,” focusing on domestic political struggles while underestimating long-term strategic shifts.

Ziv argues that Israel has been slow to adapt to Türkiye2s military investments, diplomatic outreach, and coordination across multiple theaters.
